I would pick C

Rephrase - Computer Software will not only meet the needs of the study but it also has the versatility and power to facilitate ....

This particular problem gives us 2 splits.

1. First is have vs has ---- > The subjest in the above sentence is Computer software which is plural. So it should be followed by has.

Computrer software has .....

--- B and D eliminated

2. Second is the parallelism --- > Computer software will meet the needs ..... facilitate similar research ....

--- A and D eliminated

3. Meet the needs and facilitating similar research is awkward construction.

Also correct usage is not only ... but also .....

--- D and E eliminated . E is also wordy.

Correct answer should be C.

Please see the following sentences:

1. I will make the boat and use it.

=> I will make the boat, i will use it.

=> I will not only make the boat but also use it.

2. He will meet the poor. He will have food for them.
=> he will not only meet the poor but also will have food for them.
=> he will not only meet the poor but also (will) have food for them.

--> He will not only meet the poor but also have food for them.

GMAT likes not to use the same word again.

The said SC has tested the same concept. This rule has been properly maintained in B, the best answer.

Responding to a PM on this question. This sentence has a common idiom: "not only X, but also Y." "Not only" isn't underlined here, so the correct underlined portion has to provide the second half of the idiom. That rules out C, D, and E, none of which has "but also." ("But it also" is close but still incorrect, since that "it" disrupts the proper usage.) Verb tense is sufficient to eliminate choice A, since "will not only meet" is in the future tense, and "has" is in the past tense. Reading the "will" into the second verb here, you get "but also [will] have the versatility..." which is also in the future tense. That's what makes B correct.
