Bono's station wagon

by hitmewithgmat » Sun Feb 15, 2009 3:50 pm
Due to the fact that Jordan wrecked bono's station wagon during a road trip last summer, she has not been and probably never would be allowed to drive her father's car.
B)has not bee allowed to drive and probably never will be allowed to drive
C)has not and probably neve would be allowed to drive
D)has not and probably will never be allowed to drive
E)has not and probably never will be allowed to drive

OA follows after discussion.

I Was confused between B and E.

B and E are the construct of the type -

If present or present perfect......then future

would brings in conditional and uncertainty and hence other choices are incorrect.

I will choose B over E because, B has a complete clause "has not bee allowed to drive"

IMO E makes more sense than B...
B seems to tell us that she has not been allowed to drive at all...but the correct meaning is that she is not allowed to drive just her fathers car..

IMO B.

E - HAS NOT ALLOWED - Present perfect tense - This means the event got over.

I choose B. It says, HAS NOT BEEN - This is more suitable for this sentence.

OA pls.
