After the B school, I either plan to continue with entrepreneurship or take a job in Consulting or Marketing.
MY Queries
1. Is my profile good enough for top B-Schools?
2. I am thinking of joining a job along with my social venture. What kind of job shall I take which would be in sync with my profile for MBA? I am thinking of a sales & marketing, entry level consulting, Micro finance or an NGO? Will joining an NGO be best for my profile? Also how do you see a 3-month international NGO internship for me at this stage?
3. How can I further improve my profile? I would be applying in Round-1 this year
4. Please let me know your thoughts on my target schools
5. Will retaking GMAT significantly improve my profile, if I am able to score a 750?

It would be great if you could answer my queries. Thanks a lot!

Hello,

To answer your questions:

1. Yes, though they will all be in the reach range (some, such as HBS, very high reach), so try to apply to a lot to maximize your chances.
2. It depends on your goals. If they are in social entrepreneurship, then any of the plans you propose would be beneficial. For MBA purposes, I suggest selecting the specific option that seems to offer the best opportunity for impact and leadership. Regarding the internship, it would depend on the substance of the work involved.
3. There is never too much leadership; more is always better (not that you lack it). Also, if you can raise your GMAT, it would help. Your current score shows that you're qualified, but a higher score will make you more competitive in the Indian demographic.
4. The target schools are all reaches, from quite reasonable to high reach. They will require stellar applications. I think they'd all be great, in very different ways, if your goals involve social entrepreneurship. Try to customize your applications to the specific character of each program. If you need to get in this year, you might want to look for 1-2 less competitive programs that meet your needs, though I think that with great apps you would have a decent shot this year.
5. Yes, I think a score in the 750+ range would definitely strengthen your chances.
