I vote for A as it seems to be grammatically correct and sound better to my ears. B - also having no grammatical error - however is less concise than A. What is OA?

A should be correct. It is a case of inverted pronoun usage, where a pronoun comes before the noun it refers to.

B - The thing that brought....was a government sanctioned price increase. Now price increase is not a thing, it is the name of an action. It is also wordy, A is more concise.
