HELP-Should I reschedule 550 q46 v20

by bhartiindia » Thu Jan 21, 2010 12:23 pm
Hi everyone,

I just took the test and scored GMATPrep 550 ( q46, v20). Almost all SC questions are correct but CR & RC questions - a nightmare. Not because they are tough to understand but because they are too tough to comprehend in limited time. Because when I do CR questions without timer I usually get 75-80% correct answers. I did PowerPrep Cr Bible & it is of great help. But it seems I need time. If we reschedule the test, does it effect our selection procedure. I wanted admission in this fall but I think as I am a international applicant probability is already low and with this score it will be nil. Although I selected B-schools with (600-650).I have GMAT scheduled for FEB 3,2010. Please do reply.

Regards,
Bhartiindia.

Thanks for help 77 visits & no suggestions. Anyway I rescheduled my GMAT. And please this time do reply. I want to know all about CR & RC. How u approach them? What's ur strategy to beat those questions? What material apart from OG 10,11 & 12 you are referring to attack questions?

As my maths score is fine(43-47) please suggest me books that contain good questions coz in OG's there is mixed lot. So, some time I feel to skip maths & focus on verbal. But when I gave GmatPrep I realised that the level of questions were slightly harder than I thought. Should I go for Kaplan.

Now, my weak part "Verbal". I am doing SC from Manhattan series. CR from Powerscore Cr Bible. I am doing fine in Sc questions. But when I go for RC questions I don't feel like to read or when I read I loose the sync & realise that I am in different world. In CR when I attempt questions (as I studied from CR Bible) I usually make Premise and Conclusion chart. That takes most of my time roughly 2-2:30 mins. otherwise without time constraint I do well. Is my approach is wrong for Cr or should I stick to this chart rule for a while and after some time maybe I will attain the speed.

I want to mention one more thing that I am non-native english speaker. I don't have the habit of reading almost all my life. I started reading books around 2 years back that too with HP series and some more interesting novels like that. I think this could be the reason why I don't feel like to read and loose sync. As I have months to go for GMAT, suggest me stuff that could improvise my concentration power on RC.

I am using these books:

1) OG 10
2) Manhattan SC
3) Powerscore Cr Bible
4) ARCO GMAT for essay

My score in this month.

Kaplan1 - 530
Kaplan2- 510
Gmatprep- 550( Q46, v20)

Please do reply as I want to know where my approach is going wrong & how can I gain @ least 100 pts. in next few months. Suggest me books any books for RC.
