counting?

In a knockout tennis tournament there are 519 players signed up. How many matches will be
required to be played in the tournament?

Games are played until only 1 player remains.
Each game results in 1 player leaving the tournament.
So, to get a winner out of the 519 players, 518 must leave the tournament (via a loss).
So, 518 games are required.

Answer: C
