GMAT Prep question

Q. Malik's recipe for 4 servings of a certain dish requires 1 1/2 cups of pasta. According to this recipe, what is the number of cups of pasta that Malik will use the next time he prepares the dish?

1. The next time he prepares the dish, Malik will make half as many servings as he did the last time he prepared the dish.
2. Malik used 6 cups of pasta the last time he prepared the dish.

Little bit attention is required to keep Track of Last and Next time

Option I

As we do not know how many servings he prepared last time we cannot say what is the number of cups of pasta that Malik will use the next time he prepares the dish. Not Sufficient.

Option II

1.5 cups of pasta = 4 servings

=> 6 cups of pasta = 16 servings

But nothing can be said about what is the number of cups of pasta that Malik will use the next time he prepares the dish.
Not Sufficient.

Combine both,

We know he would require 3 cups of pasta to prepare for 8 servings
Thus sufficient.

Thanks Shovan. As you rightly pointed out, it was the wording which threw me off guard and I over read the problem.
