What is the difference between the following three sentences.

She is the most dedicated gardener on the block, every day watering the more than 50 plants in her yard.

She is the most dedicated gardener on the block, every day watering more than 50 plants in her yard.

She is the most dedicated gardener on the block, every day watering more than the 50 plants in her yard.


One more question after writing the post I realized I have used "difference between" I think it should be "difference among" but difference among does not sound good to my ears.What is correct?

Let me begin with your "difference between"/"difference among" doubt. Well "difference between" is correct. The real distinction in the words among and between on their own is not the number of parts. Between expresses the one-to-one relations of any number of things, while among expresses the indefinite and collective relations of any number of things. This sentence means that the lady has more than 50 plants in her yard and she waters all of them every day.

She is the most dedicated gardener on the block, every day watering more than 50 plants in her yard.
I am not very sure about this one but i think this sentence means that the lady has more than 50 plants in her yard and she waters more than 50 plants, but maybe not all the plants. (eg: she has 100 plants in her yard and she water 75 of them)

She is the most dedicated gardener on the block, every day watering more than the 50 plants in her yard.
This sentence means that the lady has 50 plants in her yard, but she waters more than 50 plants, maybe few of the neighbor's plants as well.

what we know the 2nd sentence to mean is that she may have 75 plants in her yard and she is watering more than 50 of them...

taking literally it could also mean that she's watering more than 50 plants... so she could be watering the grass... the swing set... the dog... just anything in addition to the 50 plants...

can anyone give one more example to show this difference (watering the more than 50 and watering more than the 50 plants)
