D) Before the election the Prime Minister described the Leader of the
Opposition without any original thought as a shallow creature.


E) Before the election without any original thought the Prime Minister described the Leader of the Opposition as a shallow creature.

I think its D, sorry I got it online, don't have the OA

Between A and D, I will go with A. "as" should be used to compare a clause and D doesn't do that. Not sure if anyone has any other thoughts.
