450 to 420

by need2beatthegmat » Sat Jan 28, 2012 6:58 pm
Hi All!
I hope I can get some advice. I studied and prepared for my first GMAT but only made a 450. I had severe test anxiety so I wasn't too concerned. I thought that knowing the process and having a better idea of test day would help. So, I decided to set another test date and do everything I could to improve. I hired and worked one on one with a GMAT tutor-did all assignments, practice work, etc. After 6 weeks of intense prep, the GMAT was my life, I can honestly say that there is nothing I could have done differently, I put it all out there. When I took the GMAT for a second time, I felt confident and in control. I didn't run out of time and I felt good about my answers, fully expecting a 600+ score. I was shocked when I made a 420.

I have no idea what to do now. Do I have a learning disability or a processing disorder? How is it that I can know all of the concepts and information, yet test so terribly? What can I do?

I'd love any advice anyone can offer. I think my case goes beyond the typical "just study more," "relax," etc.

Thank you for any help!!!
