Hey guys...

I have my GMAT booked for Dec15th. 2.5 months away!!! I am in the 4 session of the Kaplan course and will be done that on Nov 8th. I am studying about 1-2 hours a day on weekdays (work full-time at a bank) and trying to get about 10 hours in on the weekends….

Do you guys think this is enough studying? Once the course ends, I will study the final month on a more intense level.

How many hours is everyone else putting in? Also, when have you booked your GMAT and how many total months do you plan on studying before you write it???

I have been studying about 3 weeks so far, with ~7 weeks to go. Studying around 1-2 hours a day (hour on my own on the strats for the problem type I am working for that day, then hound these forums for questions that others are having issues to see if I need to brush up on certain problems) and then about 6-8 hours on the weekends. Using kaplen right now for the strats and am taking my first full length practice test this weekend.

I am shooting for 720+ when I take the test. We'll see how it works out :) .

Each person takes tests differently so I don't think anyone is capable of telling you if that is enough or too much studying. My advice from another long graduate exam that I took: if you start zoning out after studying for a while, stop studying and pick up a book or newspaper and just read it. You relax a bit, you still learn something (be it int'l news, grammar from the article, etc), and you don't start studying the next day thinking you retained the information you weren't retaining from the previous day.

Good luck!

1-3 hours on weekdays (2 on average) and about 6 on weekends. I try to take a 1 day break every week, but I haven't lately. Taking this entire weekend off because I think I'm getting burnt out. :)

Most people "hit the wall" at about 2 hours of studying in one day - there's no use studying if you're zoning out or frustrated, since you won't get anything out of it. The best way to improve is to spend 2 hours per day, 5 days per week, doing concentrated, focused practice. Do a practice test on one of the other days, and take a day off every week or else you'll go crazy!

Personally, I studied about two hours per day for six weeks with good results.
