Help needed for verbal

by akshatgupta87 » Sun Jul 24, 2011 9:50 pm
Hi All,

I gave my GMAT and got a disappointing score of 620 and all because of verbal : 27
I want to retake the GMAT , but I want to know what are my weak areas so that I can concentrate more on them.
The thing is that I have already exhausted GMAT Prep, so what other source can be used that will accurately gauge my performance in individual sections.
Any advice will be of great help.

Thanks,
Akshat

Hey,

I hope you succeed in your aim to Beat the gmat!!

Although if you are looking at the correct representation of your score, the GMAT prep is the best source. But since you are more interested in finding problem areas and weaknesses try any of the freely available diagnostics:

Knewton
Princeton
MAnhattan
Kaplan

I am sure that the first two have free diags, u can check the others. Although the score might not correctly estimate ur actual potential but you will have a chance to gauge ur performance and see whr you went wrong.

As far as verbal is concerned, the MGMAT books are a great resource to start with. But you need to figure out if you want to do it on your own or will outside help be necessary.

I myself think the knewton 50 point increase gurantee is great and if you are in India then mbacrystalball.com has a special tieup with knewton (providing the entire course for Rs. 12k- complete prep). I am currently doing the same and finding it pretty helpful. But then again its your choice, if you think self study is the way fro you then that is the way to go.

I hope i answered some o your questions.
