by sairamGmat » Wed Aug 11, 2010 12:43 am
In the figure above, CE = 5, BD = 8, and the area of quadrilateral ABCD is 36. What is the area of â–³ABD ?
(A) 4
(B) 9
(C) 16
(D) 20
(E) 56

OA is C . Can any one tell me how this arrived?

Area of (ABD) = Area of ABCD - Area of BCD

So Area of BCD = 1/2 * BD * CE
= 1/2 *8 *5
=20

Area of (ABD) = 36 -20
= 16
