A. between explanation of the value and workings of archaeology, revealing the mysteries of past and present cultures, and to promote

C. between explaining the value and workings of archaeology, revealing the mysteries of past and present cultures, and when promoting

D. among explaining the value and workings of archaeology, the revelation of the mysteries of past and present cultures, and to promote

I am confused in among/between.
Shouldn't between be used over here as among is more like to be used when we are referring to people and a distribution is taking place.
Between can also denote comparison.
IMO B is the answer but that is due to the "promoting" part.
Still confused in between/among.
It takes time and effort to explain, so if my comment helped you please press Thanks button :)

I think you are confused between 'between' and 'among'. Use between for two or more things, people, groups etc. Use among for more than two people, things, groups. HTH

Its not necessary to use BETWEEN when we are referring to humans .
Use between when comparing 2 things .
Use among when comparing more than 2 things .

This sentence is trying to create a balance in :

1.explaining the value and workings of archaeology
2.revealing the mysteries of past and present cultures
3., and promoting

As we have more than 2 things we need to use among and not between.

Also you see a parallelism is maintained in the 3 things that should be balanced X, Y ,and Z.

Thanks for the above 2 bold-faced statements.
I also wanted to ask 1 more thing-Usually among is used for persons like "cake is distributed among 5 persons"
The alternative-"cake is distributed between the community members"-Is this sentence wrong??
It takes time and effort to explain, so if my comment helped you please press Thanks button :)

Your question : cake is distributed between the community members"-Is this sentence wrong??

Yes its grammatically incorrect , you should say cake was distributed AMONG the community members .

OR

Cake was distributed BETWEEN John and Ross.
