Hi all,
any advice can be really helpful and I would really appreciate.

So, this is the point.
I am a 30 y.o. applicant and I want to apply to Booth, Fuqua, Stern, and Yale SOM.
Unfortunately, I couldn't apply any sooner, so I am now doubtful whether it is better to apply now or to delay to the next year.

Applying now I would join a tough round, but delaying I would be one year older (31 upon enrolling). Which trade off is better?

This is my general profile:
- 30/Male;
- Nationality: Italian;
- GMAT: 750 (Q:48, V:45, IR: 6; AWA: 4.5);
- TOEFL: 110;
- Work Experience: Naval Officer (Military). 6 years (as of January, 2014), still on active service;
- Education: B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Naval Sciences. GPA: 110/110, cum laude.

Thank you to anyone who will share their opinion with me!

You're stats are good enough that I would say you should try for Round 3 at the schools of your choice, and certainly if the rest of your application is also up to par ( you should get an outside opinion about this). Round 3 is harder than the first two Rounds for obvious reasons but it's there for people like yourself who were unable to apply earlier. You should state the reason for this convincingly in the course of your application. I don't think your age will be a drawback either this year or next. Best of luck.

You have decent and diverse profile, so you should apply in Round 3, focus on your application and make a strong case. B-schools advise applicants to apply in any rounds till you are confident about your application and feel satisfied on the quality of essays. Concerned that your chances are slim in being admitted in Round 3? Remember that re-applicants are admitted at higher rates than first-time applicants!

Hey there,

First off - that's an amazing GMAT score! To your question, I think you should hold off until R1.

While there is some truth to the fact that reapplicants are accepted at a higher rate than normal admits, there is an extreme amount of bias in that sample. First of all, of those dinged in previous years, the ones reapplying feel they have a better chance. They've already applied once so that helps. The school is only reviewing the delta in their application so it's slightly different.

Your age, while a little bit on the higher side, will not be an issue with your profile for those schools. You have a lot of great things to talk about so what it will come down to is how you articulate those things.

If you want me to expand on anything or if you have any other questions, don't hesitate to reach out!
