For protection from the summer sun, the Mojave lived in open-sided, flat-topped dwellings known as shades, each a roof of poles and arrowweed supported by posts set in a rectangle.
[A] each a roof of poles and arrowweed
each a roof of poles and arrowweed that are being
[C] with each being a roof of poles and arrowweed
[D] with roofs of poles and arrowweed to be
[E] with roofs of poles and arrowweed that are
The given OA is A.
Could anyone just help me in understanding the difference the options A and E.
It was at a first glance really difficult question to understand.
Help needed.
A straight away meaning question.

It definitely is a tricky question. I chose E too during the first read.
E} The dwellings had roofs of poles and arrowweed that are supported by posts. The dwellings might have had other attributes - walls, floors etc. But we are talking only about the roofs.
A} The dwellings were nothing but roofs (open sided - no walls). The dwelling known as shades is nothing but a roof of poles and arrowweed supported by posts set in a rectangle.
Hope the explanation makes sense.
I would have chosen E during the test if this Q had come !
Amit, What is the source of this Q?
