If 9 models participated in a certain fashion show featuring coats, how many different coats did they model?

1) The fashion show lasted 90 minutes.
2) The ratio of the number of models who participated in the show to the number of different coats modeled was 1 to 7.

OA B

Given: 9 models participated in a certain fashion show featuring coats

Target question: How many different coats did they model?

Statement 1: The fashion show lasted 90 minutes.
The statement provides new information about the number of coach that were modeled.
Since we cannot answer the target question with certainty, statement 1 is NOT SUFFICIENT

Statement 2: The ratio of the number of models who participated in the show to the number of different coats modeled was 1 to 7
Let x = total number of different coats modeled
We can write: number of models : number of different coats modeled = 1 : 7
Substitute values to get: 9 : x = 1 : 7
In other words: 9/x = 1/7
Solve to get: x = 63
The answer to the target question is 63 different coats were modeled
Since we can answer the target question with certainty, statement 2 is SUFFICIENT

Answer: B
