this is a nice, concise summary. let me add the following justification:
might, semantically, is actually the past tense of may. therefore:
may means what you think it does: it suggests a (current) less-than-certain probability that something is true.
might, a past tense form, suggests that such a probability existed in the past, but doesn't anymore - giving rise to the usage described in the page cited.
