By confronting a devastated economy through actions such as creating the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, opening the Securities and Exchange Commission, suspending the gold standard, launching massive public works programs, and improving the morale of a demoralized nation through his fireside chats, First Inaugural address, and other motivational speeches, Franklin Roosevelt both lifted the spirits of Americans across the country and set the United States on a course that helped propel it out of the Great Depression.

Confused between B and E. Finally, I chose B. OA?

Since we are preperaing for MBA it is our duty to make each and everything simple and very presentable so that people can read properly.

I will go with E. Confusion is between B and E. I eliminated B, because we have 2 'and' in B. If it is just a list for 'such as' then we don't need 'and' before 'launching'. Since we have 'and' before 'launching' means 'such as' list ends at 'launching' and second list starts. Second list must be ||el to 'by confronting'.

Therefore, E is correct.

In A,

By confronting a devastated economy through actions such as
1 - creating the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation,
2 - opening the Securities and Exchange Commission,
3 - suspending the gold standard,
4 - launching massive public works programs, and
5 - improving the morale of a demoralized nation through his fireside chats

This would suggest that FDR confronted the devastated economy through actions such as improving the morale of a demoralized nation. Isn't this nonsensical?

1,2,3,4 are definite actions. 5 does not fall in the same line.

OA is E , but my point is you really do not need By before improving , it can be ellipsis her e.

Any take on this ?

Hey its like - FDR did 2 actions to help economy - 1 was by confronting and the other was by improving ,

both these actions continue to form a list of actions taken!!

hence its not an ellipsis error here...

hope i helped/

A) launching massive public works programs, and improving the morale of a demoralized nation through his fireside chats
B) and launching massive public works programs, and improving the morale of a demoralized nation through his fireside chats
C) and launching massive public works programs, and by improving the morale of a nation demoralized through his fireside chats
D) and through the launch of massive public works programs, and by improving the morale of a demoralized nation through his fireside chats
E) and launching massive public works programs, and by improving the morale of a demoralized nation through his fireside chats

I go for E.

By confronting a devastated economy through actions such as A, B and C
and
by improving
the morale of a demoralized nation through his fireside chats

I feel this is the correct parallelism structure here.
