Is r < 1?

$$Is\ r<1?$$

$$(1)\ r>0$$
$$(2)\ r^2<1$$

The OA is B.

I need help with this DS question. Please, can any expert assist me with it? Thanks.

(1) r > 0.

If say r = 1/2, the answer is Yes; however, if say r = 2, the answer is No. No unique answer. insufficient.

(2) r^2 < 1

=> -1 < r < 1

The answer is Yes. Sufficient.

The correct answer: B
