(1) Ratio of A to B is 1:9
(2) B-A=80
Given: A and B are 2-digit positive even numbers
Question: What is the value of A?
Let's take each statement one by one.
(1) Ratio of A to B is 1:9.
A can be 10 (minimum value of a 2-digit positive even number). With A = 10, B = 90 (valid 2-digit positive even number).
A cannot be 11 since it is not an even number.
A cannot be 12 or greater since at A = 12, B = 108 ≠2-digit number. Thus, A = 10. Sufficient.
(2) B - A = 80
A can be any number among 10/12/14/16/18. With A = 10/12/14/16/18, B = 90/92/94/96/98 (valid 2-digit positive even numbers).
No unique value can be found.
The correct answer:
A
Hope this helps!
