Congress is debating a bill requiring certain employers provide workers with unpaid leave so as to care for
sick or newbom children.
(A) provide workers with unpaid leave so as to
(B) to provide workers with unpaid leave so as to
(C) provide workers with unpaid leave in order that they
(D) to provide workers with unpaid leave so that they can
(E) provide workers with unpaid leave and


here i have a doubt . in D option why they cannot refer to employers . can someon help me out ?

First of all, remember that "so as" is incorrect on the GMAT. Just take it as a thumb rule.

Secondly, the pronoun they has no clear connection to employers or workers and could refer back to either of them.

Thirdly, this problem is not well written and hence I would not recommend spending too much time on it. It is definitely not an OG problem as you stated in the title.

Interesting question...!

N u r right it cud refer either... but still our job is to find JUST MOST SUITABLE option n sometimes it may not be perfect ... but that's not our problem...


Obviously B and D are contender... and D is the Correct one...

AS .... TO -> Correct IDM

BUT

SO .... AS TO -> INCORRECT IDM====================================================================
