Is rs = rx − 2 ?

(1) r is an odd number
(2) x = s + 2

The OA is the option E.

Using both statements together is not sufficient? Please, anyone, explain this DS question to me.

We have to determine whether rs = rx − 2.

Let's take each statement one by one.

(1) r is an odd number.

Certainly insufficient as we do not have any info about r, s, and x.

(2) x = s + 2

Certainly insufficient as we do not have any info about r.

(1) and (2) together

We still do not have the unique value of r. r can be any number 1, 3, 5, 7,... Insufficient.

The correct answer: E

Hope this helps!
