We can let T = the total number of miles driven and create the following equation:

1.24 = 0.34 + 0.06 * (T - 1/4)/(1/5)

0.9 = 0.06 * (T - 1/4) * 5

0.9 = 0.3(T - 1/4)

3 = T - 1/4

T = 3 + 1/4 = 3.25

Answer: C
