A reason Larson cannot do the assignment is that she
has an unavoidable scheduling conflict. On the other
hand, a reason Franks cannot do the assignment is that
he does not quite have the assertiveness the task
requires. So, the task must be assigned to Parker, the
only supervisor in the shipping department other than
Larson and Franks.
The argument depends on assuming which one of the
following?
(A) Larson has the assertiveness the task requires.
(B) The task cannot be assigned to anyone other
than a supervisor in the shipping department.
(C) Franks would be assigned the task if Franks had
the assertiveness the task requires.
(D) The task cannot be assigned to anyone who has
any kind of scheduling conflict.
(E) No one who is not a supervisor in the shipping
department has the assertiveness this task
requires.

Is it D?

The task cannot be assigned to anyone who has a scheduling conflict or lacks assertiveness (some other factors may also exist)

I think it's B. Since the bold part does not exist in the option D.

So just help me out to negate one and choose other option.....pleasegive the reasoning as well

B for me too.

So, the task must be assigned to Parker, the only supervisor in the shipping department other than Larson and Franks.

It doesn't state whether Parker has scheduling conflicts or is assertive. So even if Parker has scheduling conflicts, he's still assigned the task. Whether he can actually DO the task is not the concern.

IMO B

The task is assigned to Parker only because he is the 'only supervisor in the shipping department other than Larson and Frank'

the availability and the assertiveness of Parker was not checked while assigning the job to him. Hence availability or assertiveness of a non supervisor does not make him eligible for the job.

I go with B as well, being a supervisor seems compulsary to receive the task.
