1) In nine years, Carl will be twice as old as Bea.
2) Six years ago, Carl was 7 times as old as Bea.

The OA is D
Say Bea is B years and Carl is C years; thus, C = 3B ---(1)

We have to get the value of B.

Let's take each statement one by one.

1) In nine years, Carl will be twice as old as Bea.

C + 9 = 2(B + 9)

C = 2B + 9 ---(2)

From (1) and (2), we get B = 9. Sufficient.

2) Six years ago, Carl was 7 times as old as Bea.

C - 6 = 7(B - 6)

C = 7B - 36 ---(3)

From (1) and (B), we get B = 9. Sufficient.

The correct answer: D

Hope this helps!
