A. Some say Lili just joined the debate team out of a love with the sound of her own voice.- OUT.. WORDY construction.

B. Lili was in love with the sound of her voice, some say, and just joined the debate team.- OUT Misplaced modifier.."some say". "just joined" the debate team - changes the meaning.

C. Some people say Lili just joined the debate team in love of her own voice. .. OUT- "team in love" changes the meaning. "Love of" is unidiomatic.

D. Some people say Lili just joined the debate team out of love with her voice...CORRECT.

E. Some say Lili only joined the debate team out of a love for the sound of her own voice. OUT. .. WORDY..."love for the sound of her own voice"

OA after some discussion.

Thanks for the reply guys,

OA E

The explanation talks about redundant use of people in "some people", use of "only joined" and not "just joined".

I am still not convinced with this reasoning.

Can some of the experts pitch in please to clarify.

Thanks & regards

A. Some say Lili just joined the debate team out of a love with the sound of her own voice.

Out of love FOR X is the correct usage.

B. Lili was in love witht he sound of her voice, some say, and just joined the debate team.
In love with X usage is correct in first half of sentence, but putting just in the second half distorts the original sentence meaning.
C. Some people say Lili just joined the debate team in love of her own voice.
in love of X is wrong
D. Some people say Lili just joined the debate team out of love with her voice.
out of love with is wrong. FOR is the correct usage.
E. Some say Lili only joined the debate team out of a love for the sound of her own voice.
out of love for is correct. putting qualifier only before joined shows that action was limited because of some reason (love for her voice).

"out of love for " and " in love with" , these two idioms can help in answering this.

Hope this helps. Comments welcome.
