i remember this question, so can say few words
B) because of diminishing -wrong usage
C)capability in-wrong idiom. capable of -ing right usage
D)specially -not proper word in this context, capability of..to..do,wrong idiom
E)specially-the same as in D,because of diminishing-wrong as in B
so left with A

i would also go with A because-

1. "ability to" is an idiom
2. use of "an Especially"...........this thing i can't tell you why i went but when i spoke the sentence twice or thrice to my mind i was again and again coming of "an especially" instead of "a specially"

in C and D i dont feel "capability of" is the right usage......please correct me if i am wrong........

hi atul
i am not sure that i can answer on all questions correctly, but my try
the difference between specially and especially it is better show on example
i like coffee, especially that grown in Brazil. (here especially somewhat intensify my liking)
and
i like Brazilian coffee, specially cooked in this restaurant.( cooked in some specific way)

as for second question
diminishing-here is a gerund and it can`t be object of preposition-of.

Hey Rohu

Thanks a lot for the link, it helped a lot (mark my word)

Ron's explanation was awesome, and even i got the same glimpse that in this question GMAT is taking cheap potshots at the Non-native speakers...its unfortunate...but still have to except this...apart from that other concepts are really nice and its a good learning.

@clock

Buddy thanks for the explanation but after reading Ron's explanation for those two words especially / specially i think your example is not correct..may be m wrong, u judge yourself..just follow the link...

Thanks
