Car dealers in the town of Clifton have discovered an antique car in an abandoned garage. Newspapers that were found in the garage indicate that the car dates from sometime between 1885 and 1915. However, the car probably dates to no earlier than 1905, since the car was built to run on gasoline, and the first gasoline-powered cars manufactured in Clifton were produced in 1905.

C. The upholstery on the car's front seat dates from no earlier than 1930, so clearly someone was aware of the car's presence long after it was first purchased.
D. A car that dates from before 1900 would be considerably more valuable to collectors than a car dating from 1905.
