(B) are the effects of bacterial deterioration: spoilage of food, metals corroding
(C) is the effects of bacterial deterioration, which include spoilage of food, metals corroding
(D) are the effects of bacterial deterioration, which includes spoilage of food, corrosion of metals
(E) are the effects of bacterial deterioration: spoilage of food, corrosion of metals


Why C is preferred over D?

C is better than D because

"is" agrees with "detrimental" and "include" agrees with "effects"

disregard my last post.... I take back the is/detrimental agreement comment and C has a parallelism problem as well.

E is the better choice

subject is effects - pl -> verb should be ARE rather IS
list in E expresses parallelism.

IMO the answer is E.

Reasons,
1. Parallelism "corrosion of metals" --> A,B&C are out
2. "includes" refer to singular only --> D is out.
