Ineffective Pesticides

3. The pesticide Azocide, introduced to summer valley farms three summers ago, has proven ineffective because other pesticides' chemical composition already in wide use neutralizing its desired effect.

My reason for this post: Can someone please explain the reason for eliminating option B ? I would eliminate option B because it does not sound "right" to the ear. I realize that might not be the best reason to eliminate an option. So, I am looking for (preferably Manhattan-style :)) reasons to eliminate this choice.

OA defies the basic usage of "due to"
can some instructor plz tell as why "due to" right here
i have read that "due to" is right only when it can be replaced by "caused by"

Yes it indeed defies the logic to use 'due to'. Due to X is always an adjective describing a noun whereas because of X is an adverb describing a verb.

Out of the choices,My pick would be B here.

The verb after "wide use" is missing in choice B
