The difference between fate and coincidence depend on subjective interpretation, wherein we see a positive turn of events as our just reward and a calamity as an undeserved happenstance.

a) depend on subjective interpretation, wherein we see a positive turn of events as --> depend is plural for difference
b) depend on subjective interpretation, and we see a positive turn of events as --> depend is plural for difference
c) depends on subjective interpretation: seeing a positive turn of events as --> : seeing -not the correct usage...Also our refers to ....oops i dont see one..thats also a problemo
d) depends on subjective interpretation: we see a positive turn of events as -- > cream of the crap..Best answer..
e) causes us, depending on subjective interpretation, to see a positive turn of events as --> looks plain wrong..

So if the colon is followed by an dependent clause but not a list , can it be treated as wrong???
Disclaimer: There are other ways that a colon can be used properly, but they haven't all (yet) been tested on this exam. They could choose to start testing other uses any time they want.

We know that they have tested usages involving a list of things (which is okay) and an independent clause that is closely related to the first independent clause (which is also okay).

We do also know that they have tested an "independent clause: subordinate clause" construction and that construction is NOT okay. (Note: a list of things is not a subordinate clause - a clause requires a conjugated verb and a list would not include a conjugated verb.)
