Please help...I am not able to understand the OE

The question is: What is the length of side BC?

Angle BAD = x degrees (missing from the diagram above)

Angle BDC = Angle BCD implies BD = BC.
Also, angle ADB = 180 - 2x
Sum of the angles in a triangle = 180 degrees, so in triangle ADB, x + (180 - 2x) + angle ABD = 180 Hence, angle ABD = x.
So, angle ABD = x = angle DAB
Therefore, AD = BD implies AD = BD = BC.

We have to find the length of BC.

(1) Line segment AD has length 6 implies AD = BD = BC = 6; SUFFICIENT.

(2) x = 36 only gives us the values of the angles; NOT sufficient.

The correct answer is A.

Ok...thats what i was confused with...OE have considered this but it was not given in the question itself.
