Over 75 percent of the energy produced in France derives from nuclear power, while in Germany it is just over 33 percent.

(A) while in Germany it is just over 33 percent
(B) compared to Germany, which uses just over 33 percent
(C) whereas nuclear power accounts for just over 33 percent of the energy produced in Germany
(D) whereas just over 33 percent of the energy comes from nuclear power in Germany
(E) compared with the energy from nuclear power in Germany, where it is just over 33 percent.

Hi manpreet singh,

This SC is built around parallelism. The second part of the sentence must parallel the first part of the sentence:

The first part: "(percent) of the energy produced in France"

The second part must follow this same pattern/order of words.

Only the correct answer follows this pattern.

Two things being compared are -
1) ENERGY DERIVED FROM NUCLEAR POWER OUT OF ENERGY PRODUCED IN FRANCE.
2) ENERGY DERIVED FROM NUCLEAR POWER OUT OF ENERGY PRODUCED IN GERMANY.

Options
A) IT refers to "energy produced" or "nuclear power". Even if it refers to energy produced the meaning comes out: energy produced is just over 33 percent. This is NOT the second part of comparison.
B) USES is wrong. Seems as if it is compared energy with germany.
D) it never mentions "ENERGY PRODUCED", which option C does explicitly
E) it never mentions "ENERGY PRODUCED", which option C does explicitly
