Senior executives had a larger percentage increase in pay in 1990 than the wages of other salaried workers.

I like answer E because it makes the subject wages and isn't awkward.

E is the only one which makes sense since it compares pay and wages. All other flouts the rule of comparision.

Here the percentage of increment is compared not wages. This is clearly explained in A.

Okay, typical comparison question,

Here you compare 2 things and one of them if outside the underlined portion (wages of other salaried workers). Hence we need to find a like quantity to compare wages to: only E makes a like comparison (compares pay of senior ex to wages of other workers)
