best/better GMAT courses?

by linkinpark » Fri Jan 22, 2010 9:11 pm
Hi BTG members,
Can anyone share his/her experience/feedback about GMAT courses. I'm thinking to go for one but not sure which one is better.

Grokit, Knewton, MGMAT, Kaplan, Veritas, Princeton. Verbal has been worst so far for me. Knewton is the only course to guarantee for 50 points or refund.

Please share your review.

Thanks

Also check into how much it would cost to simply re-take the class... I know that companies won't refund your money, but some may let you take the class over again at a very reduced cost. Remember they don't want people going around town speaking poorly of their company.

I think Kaplan also has a higher score guarantee. It's true, it's only a "higher score" one (i.e. if you score 10 points above your diagnostic test, refund is out of the question), but that's still worth mentioning.

Of the courses you've mentioned, I think MGMAT has had the most positive reviews. However, I haven't personally tried any of them, so this is just indirect feedback.

Where are you located? If you're in a major city, there's a good likelihood that these testing companies have information sessions. I highly suggest attending these sessions before deciding (if you're able to). Also, if you go to those MBA tours/info sessions, usually Test Prep companies will give an overview later in the day after everyone has visited the schools.

Hi Dana,

You've got one aspect of our guarantee correct--we offer money back if your score does not improve over your diagnostic test. However, you've left out the other two important aspects, satisfaction and readiness. Once you've completed the Kaplan course, you can re-take the entire course again if you aren't satisfied with your score--even if you've improved by 100 points! Also, you can re-take the course if you just don't feel ready to take the test, ensuring that a poor score doesn't appear on our records.
