Hi there, I took the GMAT about 1 year ago, and I got a 680 (Q43 V40). As the percentiles are not well balanced and as I opt to top schools, I would like to retake the test and score at least 710, improving from 70 to at least 81% in the Q part (43 to 47). i'd like to know: is this very hard? Or it's feasible?

It's feasible. Yes I cant say its very hard to jump from 43 to 47. But I think it's very difficult to go from 49-51. :?

GMAT math is tough but as everybody scores higher, the percentile rank goes lower to q score. & in order to be in competition we've to score higher in quant whatsoever.

For your case you should have a balanced score. Sometimes you can get away with low 30s in verbal but cant compromise in quant (it has to have high 40s in q)
The same old reason: Most of the students score higher in quant than their verbal points. :(

I definitely agree, moving from 43 to 47 is feasible, especially if you didn't study last time (in fact, sometimes the difference between 43 and 47 is simply the batch of questions you get and/or how lucky you are at guessing).

What were your prep techniques the last time you took the exam?

I think you also need to check out, what are your other variables your application. if you have a good GPA and good essays, I don't think that the GMAT score will be the thing between getting in and staying out.
