I believe you can register up to six months in advance of your test date. (At least, that's the limit on the website.) But rest assured, if you register for a May 2017 exam this November, you'll have plenty of options to choose from.

Yes, this is correct. Seats become available for registration six months in advance. You can search for test dates and test centers near you here: https://www.mba.com/register.
