Hi All,
I'm planning on taking the GMAT in exactly a month. I'm trying to figure out a course of study for these last few weeks. At my last practice test (GMATPrep #1) 3 weeks ago, I scored a 670 (47-48 Quant, 35 Verbal). I am happy with my Quant score (79th percentile), but I KNOW I can get my Verbal up. My goal is a 700+, so if I can keep my Quant around the same level, but improve my Verbal dramatically, then it should be doable.
I've been taking ManhattanGMAT's 9 week class, and have been keeping up with the materials fairly well. I've put in between 5-10 hours of prep (including classes) per week over the past 3+ months.
I doubt I will feel ready for the GMAT in August, but it's okay if I take it more than once, and I'm afraid that if I don't take it soon I'll lose momentum.
Right now I am reviewing OG problems to write down a reason for WHY each wrong answer choice is wrong, and what traps or tricks there are. I'm also trying to compile of list of Things to Do, for example, on a Working Together Rate problem, I need to: 1. find individual rates, 2. find combined rate, 3. use combined rate in the RTW table to calculate the answer
My goal is to study for 2 hours a day Monday - Thursday, 3-4 hours on Friday, and 4 hours on Saturday, and 2 hour on Sunday night, which means 17-18 hours a week for the next 4 weeks.
I guess I'm trying to set up a structure so that I can use my remaining month most effectively. For example, do Quant Monday and Wednesday, Verbal Tuesday & Thursday, Friday review, Saturday CAT, Sunday CAT review, etc. (I plan on taking 3 full length CAT's under simulated testing conditions - wake up at 6AM, taking the test by 8AM, etc.).
If my scores aren't getting where I want them to be, I'll postpone the test, but I really would prefer not to because work is getting to busy season, and I won't have time to study until February... (I'm applying in Fall 2009).
Does anyone have a schedule they can suggest that I can adapt for my own? Thank you so much!
