Should be B,

A and D distort the meaning

The bowerbirds of Australia derive their name from the fact that .....

Bowerbirds do not get their names from the "Fact", rather from the Bowers. Also "them" has a ambiguous antecedent.

Between B, C and E.
E is in a passive voice.
C uses incorrect modifier

A and D are wrong, because bowebirds derive their names from the elaborate bower not from the fact.

C - Changes in meaning
E - Its still happening. Its the bowerbird's behavior. So, Past tense is WRONG.
B uses the present tense correct and is CORRECT
