The analyst suggested that traders pay more attention to a broader measure of the money supply, known as x but still not to ignore standard indicators.

A) but still no to ignore.
B) and not to ignore any longer.
C) but that they still not ignore
D) and not that they continue to ignore
E) but that they are still not ignoring.

Please suggest

Where is this question from? I don't particularly like any of the solutions.

A is completely out ('no' should be 'not', for starters).
B is out because 'to ignore' is not parallel with 'pay'.
C is the best, but "still" is rather awkward here.
D is semantically saying something different i.e. that the analyst did not suggest something.
E is all over the place; for one thing, it's again semantically different -- here, the analyst is commenting on the behaviour of the traders as opposed to giving them advice.

This question deals with the issue of the SUBJUNCTIVE.

A - the verb "ignore" should not be preceded by "to." "To" is omitted in the subjunctive.
B - the same problem as in answer A
C - correct
D - wordy and awkward
E - unnecessary change of tense - incorrect

To indicate contrast we need but. Analyst suggested two things and those two needs to be in parallel. We need second 'that' to indicate that analyst suggested those two things.

A. Wrong. The stuff after 'but' doesn't contain any verb. Also we need 'that' for parallelism.

B. And doesn't indicate contrast.

C. Looks good. Second 'that' shows that Analyst suggested two things, and 'but' shows the contrast.

D. Same as B

E. Present Continuous is not correct to indicate a suggestion. We need simple tense.

The question is from a mixed bag questions from old versions of OG.

Answer is C only.

Thnx guyz, especially the info regarding subjunctive tense.
