According to scientists at the University of Alaska, while the surface temperature of the globe has risen over the last century by about one degree Fahrenheit, the surface temperature in Alaska, Siberia, and northwestern Canada has increased in the previous thirty years by about five degrees.

While i did get this answer right, i would like to know whether i did get it right for all the right reasons :)

Can you also tell which option choice was the correct one??

I think (E) is the correct option,rest of the options either being too wordy or improper usage.

1.Mainly (in the previous) should be replaced with over.
2.Option B and D being too wordy.

Plz tell whether I am right or wrong..:)

are you sure if the "it" (in options D and E) refers to the temperature? Or is it referring to "globe", which is nearer to "it" ?

In E we dont know what 'it' stands for.

What made me choose option B is parallelism ...
the surface temperature of .......the surface temperature in

Thus Eliminating options C,D and E

Now can u guess the correct answer? :)
