Hi, first of all I would to thank you for doing all of these profile evaluations. I think it's a great service, and I also believe that it is probably helpful, taking your time in this format makes me me believe that you'll do the same if I am a client.
Basics:
26 year old white male from the Midwest (Minnesota).
GMAT: 720 (q48, v41)
Education:
B.A. in Asian Studies from a top 25-50 liberal arts college.
3.55 GPA (Cum Laude)
Extracurriculars:
-played on a nationally competitive club ultimate Frisbee team all 4 years, emotional leader my senior year.
-received a grant from the college to start a business with 2 partners buying vintage and designer clothing from thrift stores and selling it on eBay.
-Very involved in student government
Work Experience:
-Worked for a year doing marketing and brand management for a hobby board and card game industry. As part of the job recruited, managed, and motivated a team of 400+ brand ambassadors running an average of 1100+ events a month in 20 different countries.
-Started a company to do commercial and multi-family real estate receivership work during the financial crisis and was bought out by my partner company after a year and a half. As part of this work become the #1 commercial leasing agent in my county.
-Now working as a marketing strategist for a talent sourcing startup (5 months).
Volunteer work:
I am a crisis counselor for a suicide hotline and spend 8 hours a week listening with an empathic ear to distraught and mentally ill people while assessing them for suicide risk.
Personality:
I am extremely curious, creative and compassionate. Broadly interested in all aspects of human experience and knowledge, but have decided that for my future success and happiness I will focus on my passion for strategy, marketing and people. I haven't been in a lot of formal leadership roles since high school, but I am usually an emergent leader in peer situations at work and in my personal life.
Schools:
I want a collegial business program preferably in the Midwest or Northeast with specialties in Marketing and/or Strategy.
I have identified these schools as potentials:
HBS
Tuck
Northwestern
Columbia
UCLA
U of Texas-Austin
U of Washington (Foster0
U of Minnesota (Carlson)
I plan applying to all the reach schools in October r1 and all my other schools in December and January if I don't get into the other programs.
My question is how much of a reach is HBS? Is it even worth my time to apply?
