I just wanted to thank everyone for all the assistance provided from this site.
Kind of ticks me off because I bombed the Quant section. In all of my practices I had been doing better on the Quant than Qual and scoring around a 46 on most of my practices. I got to the test and it just seemed like I got problems thrown at me right away that I was unfamiliar with, even though I worked through the entire OG and beyond. Maybe I was just nervous or something, but it seemed like new material, as I had mastered a lot of the techniques to solving what I thought was most of the types of problems. Half way through the Quant I get this problem.
What is the Square Root of 9 + the Square Root of 4?
I had been guessing at a couple of the early questions and knew I was doing terribly when I got that easy one.
I couldn't shake the fact that I was doing bad and I pretty much thought I had just wasted a bunch of time and energy over the past two months and now I was just going to bomb this whole test. It was in my head all throughout the test, but I just kept on keepin' on.
Thought the Qual was a little easier, but still felt like I educated guessed at too many of the sentence correction questions.
Finished the test and hit submit my scores. Boom 680.
Studied hard for 2 months and my goal was 660-670 range and I ended up making an 680!
This is a good enough score to get me into any school in Texas, which is where I am thinking about going, so I am very happy with it, but am just angry to see how high my score could have been if I didn't mess up so badly on the quant, or even made a reasonable score like my practice tests proved I could do.
I believe I made a 41 quant - 60th percentile and a 42 qual - 95th percentile. Those scores may be off as I don't have it in front of me. My great score managed to make up for my short comings, but I believe I would have broken 700 with even a mediocre math score. Oh well, I thought about taking it again but don't think it's worth it, and honestly don't think I would score that high on the verbal again so it might just end up evening back out to around 680 again. Just a little bit frustrating.
The test proctor came to escort me from my seat and I gave him a high five.
Thanks again for everyone's assistance, I just wanted to share my story so everyone could see how obtainable a 700 and above really is. Although I didn't get it, I easily could have been up there, but am still very happy with my score.
Hopefully the schools I apply to won't be too upset with my bad qualitative score. Do they look at the separate scores?
