In a factory, each day, every worker produces the same number of units of a product per hour in a day. The factory was to produce 24000 units in 5 days and 300 workers were engaged to complete the work in 5 days. However, at the end of the 1st day, they learnt that they have to produce 32000 units within that stipulated time period of 5 days. How many additional worked must be engaged to complete the work accordingly.

Sorry but don't have answer options on this one. Also don't have an OA. Would appreciate if the
answer can be explained step by step in detail...thanks

IMO 125

output /day = 24000/ 5 = 4800

output/worker/day = 4800/300 = 16

1st day they already produced 4800, leaving 27200 to be completed

27200/4days = 6800/day

6800/16 = 425 workers

so you need 425 - 300 = 125 extra

One worker/per day produces : (24000/300)/5=16 units

Since there was an addition of extra samples at the end of day 1, day 1 is considered spent.

Hence in 4 days each worker can produce 64 units.

No of workers needed for extra samples= Extra samples/no. of samples produced by each worker in 4 days.
=8000/64
=125.

300 workers in 5 days produces 24000 units.
Hence, 300 workers in 1 day produces (24000/5) = 4800 units.
And, each worker per day produces (24000/300)/5 = 16 units

Now in (5 - 1) = 4 days we need to produce (32000 - 4800) = 27200 units

Number of workers required = (27200/4)/16 = 425

Therefore, additional number of workers required = (425 - 300) = 125

work done per day = 24000/5=4800
thus total work remaining for 4 days = 32000-24000+ (24000-4800) = 27200

hence number of people = 272*5*300/240*4 = 425.

hence 125.
