EI Nino, the periodic abnormal warming of the sea surface off Peru, a phenomenon in which changes in the ocean and atmosphere combine allowing the warm water that has accumulated in the western Pacific to flow back to the east

(A) a phenomenon in which changes in the ocean and atmosphere combine allowing the warm water that has accumulated

(8) a phenomenon where changes in the ocean and atmosphere are combining to allow the warm water that is accumulating

(C) a phenomenon in which ocean and atmosphere changes combine and which allows the warm water that is accumulated

a phenomenon ......... is a noun modifier and modifies the nearest noun which happens to be Peru for options A,B, & C
whereas the s/c is not intended to do so. therefore A,B & C are out

E is wrng bcoz where is used to modify a place phenonmenon is not a place.......

hence D is correct......

IMO (D).


EI Nino ..... is a phenomenon is correct sentence. E is wrong because... where is used to modify a place only.
