Whereas scientists, because of random fluctuations in the weather, can not determine the transition from one season to the next by monitoring temperatures on a daily basis, so they cannot determine the onset of global warming by monitoring average annual temperatures.

A. Whereas scientists
B. Just as scientists
C. Like scientists who
D. Inasmuch as a scientist
E. In the same way a scientist

Hey guys the OA is B which I chose based on ear, but I was still uncertain what's wrong with choice E? Thank, Vish.

One problem is that the pronoun 'they' cannot take the singular antecedent 'scientist'. Another is that "just as...so..." is the correct idiomatic expression in this case.
