comparison at work. Owners of condominium apartments should be compared with owners of cooperative apartments.
only C follows the rule.

Owners of one apartment are compared with owners of other apartment (plural).
Hence plural comparison is required. (A) (B) (D) are out.

Out of (C) n (E), (E) is wordy.

Hence (C) wins

I understand it is a very basic question but can somebody explain me

The consultant in KPMG has a specialization in finance whereas consultants in Mckinsey have specialization in all domain.

Here I am comparing a particular consultant of KPMG in general with the consultants of Mckinsey...is singular to plural comparison is always wrong .

that's an oxymoron :)

by the way, to show that particularity, the sentece should look something like this :

"The consultant in KPMG who specializes in Finance....."
then you can always compare them with consultants in McKinsey. for e.g

"The consultant in KPMG, who specializes in Finance, differs significantly from the consultants in McKinsey . "

(comparison of a particular employee with all the employees in general).

observe that though you have shown comparison with all the consultants in McKinsey, the comparison of that particular consultant is with each of them(singular).
