Women employees

by quocbao » Tue Mar 03, 2009 8:54 am
I have a problem solving question like this:

A factory has 500 workers, 15% of whom are women. If 50 additional workers are to be hired and all present workers remain. How many of additional workers must be women in order to raise the percent of women employees to 20%.

A. 3
B. 10
C. 25
D. 30
E. 35

I do the following calculation:

15% of 500 = 75
20% of 550 = 110
110 - 75 = 35

But OA is B :-(

At present:

15% of 500 = women = 75

In future, you want:

20% of (500 + 50) = women = 110

Therefore, additional women = 110 -75 = 35.

I'm getting E as well. What's the source? Anybody has a different answer?

Yes, may be the answer key is wrong. It's very bad when you practise on bad quality question set :-(
