by napster87 » Mon Apr 05, 2010 11:54 pm
I am currently working full time(An year and a month now) with Infosys as a Systems Engineer(Infosys Designation for Software Engineer).
Help me with some info on how to get started with the prep for GMAT.
Also i do not want to pursue a career in IT. I am like more into Mass Comm and Marketing and other Active Fields of work unlike IT. Please help me with some suggestions in this context as well.

Hi Nishant,

it's better late than never. To get started with GMAT prep. Start blogging (also tak your time to explore BeatTheGMAT) the GMAT aspirants Blog in a day to fire up or to sustain your interests in GMAT. And make some likeminded collegues who are aiming for the same. Last but not least If nothing above seems to be working for you then All I can say, join some coaching institute, that way you can spend atleast few hours on GMAT prep. As time passes you'll be a mentor on BTG :)

I suggest you must first plan where to pursue your MBA, and when do you want start MBA. As you told you have only 1.1 year experience I would suggest that you should plan to do MBA after 2+years of work ex. So you can target 2011 intake for MBA(I am also planning for the same).

For GMAT I suggest go through this forum. understand what GMAT is all about , what sections do they have and what content they test on. Once you get some understanding of what is tested, try to revise backs by downloading material from net. This site has lot of good stuff. Prepare for some time and take some free full length test. This will give you an understanding how to move forward. If you feel you can do self reading then buy some books or else join some classes(in person or online training). Do not take the first test with out basic understanding the exam pattern.
